Acquired haemophilia is a bleeding disorder that stops the blood from clotting properly. While other types of haemophilia are present from birth, acquired haemophilia occurs suddenly when the body develops ‘inhibitors’ that interfere with the body’s own clotting factors. It can result in spontaneous and uncontrolled bleeding.

A common complaint, vertigo has a number of mostly benign causes, often treated with betahistine, which is thought to reduce endolymphatic pressure, allowing vestibular hair cells to function better. A Cochrane review of betahistine found that it may reduce symptoms of vertigo, and two more recent studies found positive benefits in patients with vertigo.

Although the aetiology is unknown, there is increasing evidence that increased bladder layer permeability is linked to the symptoms of interstitial cystitis or painful bladder.
