Vitamin D deficiency has been implicated in the aetiology ofĀ numerous infectious diseases and metabolic syndrome which areĀ prevalent in the African and Asian-Indian populations of SouthĀ Africa. There is limited data on 25-hydroxyvitamin D concentrationsĀ and limited comparative bone mineral density data on non-Ā Caucasian population groups in South Africa.
