Biomarkers Aid Early Diagnosis of AlzheimerāsĀ ā MM1505
Alzheimerās disease (AD) is a chronic neurodegenerative diseaseĀ with well-defined pathophysiological mechanisms, mostly affectingĀ medial temporal lobe and associative neocortical structures.Ā Neuritic plaques and neurofibrillary tangles represent theĀ pathological hallmarks of AD and are respectively related to theĀ accumulation of the amyloid-beta peptide (Aβ) in brain tissues andĀ to cytoskeletal changes that arise from the hyperphosphorylation ofĀ microtubule-associated Tau protein in neurons.
