The Doctor in Court

The Doctor in Court – MM1602

Despite these fervent wishes of ourĀ Minister of Health, we are now fiveĀ years down the line and the numberĀ of doctors found in the corridors ofĀ our Courts is increasing in leaps andĀ bounds.
There are three reasons why doctorsĀ are likely to be found in court;
• as the accused ā€œin the dockā€,
• as a factual witness giving first-handĀ evidence regarding a patient they haveĀ treated or
• as an expert medical witness (a witnessĀ of opinion) who is there to interpretĀ the medical facts before the court.
