In 2012, 1.6m more people\u00a0were receiving antiretroviral therapy (ART) in low- and\u00a0middle-income countries compared to a year earlier, with\u00a0the greatest increases occurring in the WHO African region.\u00a0In 2002, 300 000 people received ART in low- and middleincome\u00a0countries which increased to 9.7m in 2012.
