CMV shares\u00a0many of the attributes of the other herpes viruses, including genome,\u00a0virion structure, and the ability to cause latent and persistent\u00a0infections. CMV has the largest genome of all herpes viruses.\u00a0Multiple genetically distinct strains of CMV exist which may account\u00a0for \u00a0the differences in virulence.
