EPLs have\u00a0long been known to be effective in treating alcoholic liver disease but there is\u00a0now growing awareness of the liver regeneration benefits in non-alcoholic fatty\u00a0liver disease (NAFLD). In South Africa there is a high prevalence of diseases\u00a0such as HIV, TB and Hepatitis B, all of which can affect the liver. There is also\u00a0a rising epidemic of diabetes and obesity that is increasing the incidence of\u00a0NAFLD.
