Silver has\u00a0been used medicinally for centuries, due to its potent antimicrobial properties.\u00a0The newer silver dressings, such as nanocrystalline silver dressings, offer\u00a0advantages over earlier silver preparations as they are better able to maintain\u00a0biologically active concentrations of silver.
